When do we get to go in?

Today was our wards "fill the temple" day so my friend Emily and I took our little people that weren't in school with us.
I told Holden the night before what was going down and that Miss Em would be in charge of him and the other 2 kids. He said, "After you and Miss Em go in who's going in with me?" I explained that he needed a special ticket called a temple recommend to go in, and later when he's bigger he can go inside. He said, "Well, when I'm bigger I'll just go in by myself. I don't need anyone to go with me." That is so Holden to go by himself.
First, I should say how the morning ran before we went. Actually, it seemed to be going perfectly until 5 minutes before I had to go get Holden and meet my friend. All of a sudden Ashley peed her pants (which NEVER happens) so I had to clean up the pee and then bathe her AGAIN! Then Josh pooped (which I expect out of a 9 month old) so we had to change him. Then since Ashley peed in her pink shoes she went and slipped on her yellow backyard boots! I tried to convince her to wear different boots, but she said, "I tan't I have to wear my boots to the temple." I thought that was to cute to argue with so I let it slide. :) The when I went to get Holden he stood in the hallway, and patiently waited for about 5 classes to pass. I'm waving to him trying to get his attention. He was too far to really yell his name without interrupting the students. Finally he decided he was done waiting for all the classes and he cut in front of them and came to me. :) Anyway, somehow that made us all 30 minutes behind.
As I went onto the temple and left my dear friend Emily with 5 children 4 and under, to of them being babies,at the park nearby I felt calmer. Who knows if she did, but I did! :) No really the temple was great! It was a beautiful blue sky, the weather was like 70 degrees, and the flowers were blooming. It was great. When we switched the kiddos so Emily could go in I took them around the temple grounds. I needed to go into the distributions center which is attached to the temple, but I was saving that for the end. So we started walking the paths of the temple. Ty (Emily's boy) said, "when do we get to go in there?" I said later, and then I realized that he too wanted to go in the temple. What sweet kids. The lady in the garment center gave Holden, Ty, and Ashley a temple bag to hold there acorns they found on the grounds and a temple 2009 session card. They felt like they were given the best present ever. I heard Holden tell Ty, "That was sure lucky that she gave us a temple card." They really could feel the sweet feeling of the temple. I think our souls long for it.

  1. That is so sweet! Your kids just crack me up. Good job on still going to the temple. I probably would have said screw it!

  2. I love that Ashley wanted to wear her rain boots. That is totally like my kids. What an ordeal. Do you even remember the days when you could just go to the Temple without having to find care for all the little ones. You guys are real troopers for making the trip. It sounds like it was good for the kids. It really is beautiful at the Temple this time of the year.
